Tickets are £30 per person.
Tickets need to be purchased at https://www.hampshirehammerers.com/events once they are available.
Tickets will go on sale at 18:00 on Friday, 20th of Feb.
We have 60 tickets available. We may be able to expand on this number a small amount, but we are limited by the size of our venue. So once tickets are gone they are gone, don’t hang around for us to increase the numbers. We will start a waiting list if we reach capacity.

Food #
In the past we have provided food for City of Kings. Unfortunately this year we will not be providing food for the event due to reasons outside of our control. This is reflected in the ticket cost for the event.
WInchester City Centre is only a five to ten minute walk from the venue, where there are plenty of eateries and shops. You will be allowed to eat external food on the premises and we will be providing bins for any rubbish. Scenarios and scoring #
At this event, we will be using a mixture of unmodified scenarios and bespoke scenarios for this event (see the end of the event pack for scenarios marked with *). The Scenarios in play will be: Treasure Horde, Heroic Deeds*, Secure the Relics*, Lead from the Front and Sites of Fell Power*
Games will be played on a 4” x 4” board. Match ups will be Swiss pairs based on wins, draws and losses. Tie-breaks will be, total victory points for, followed by victory point difference. Scoring for gaming will be done through one of the internet based systems, so please bring along a Wi-Fi capable device.
This year, we will be running a major/minor win system for TPs.
Points will be awarded as follows:
Major Victory 60 TP
Minor Victory 50 TP
Draw 30 TP
Minor Loss 20 TP
Major Loss 10 TP
A major win/loss will be awarded where the victory points difference is at least 10vps. Players scoring a maximum 20vps will be awarded an extra 5 TP (regardless of if they have a major or minor win)
Armies #
A player must bring a single army, either good or evil, using profiles and army lists from The Armies of the Lord of the Rings, The Armies of the Hobbit, The Armies of Middle Earth and Legacy Profiles (GBHL FAQ will be in use) or any other supplement that has matched play profiles that is released (not pre-order) 2 weeks before the event date.
Additional army Building Restrictions:
Armies must be painted and based to a suitable standard (please contact us if you are unsure about what this means).
Where possible we would like to see official GW miniatures being used to prevent confusion to your opponent, however 3D printed and other proxies are allowed, but please email photos of these to hampshiregrimhammerers@gmail.com just so we can make sure there won’t cause any confusion.
If you have any other list building queries, please contact Philip or Olly.
Lists need to be submitted by 2000 on Sunday the 10th of May. Players will be docked the equivalent of one draw for a late list submission.
Lists that are missing key information (general, bow count, break point etc) will be asked to resubmit their lists with this information added. See the last page for an example list

Seat of the King #
Winchester used to be the seat of the Monarchy, and we are keeping that alive at this event. All players must have a Seat of the King in their army.
The seat of the king is represented by a 50mm objective marker.
For those that wish to convert and bring a bespoke seat there will be a hobby competition for this, for those that do not want to bring a bespoke seat, markers will be provided on the day for everyone.
The Seat of the King follows the following rules:
Before deployment but after sides are chosen each player will deploy their seat in their deployment zone (starting with the player that rolled to pick deployment zones). In games where armies do not deploy on the board then the seat will instead be carried onto the board in a similar manner to Galadriel’s Mirror as found on page 75 of the Armies of the Lord of the Rings with the following addition to account for armies with rules not represented in the Lothlorien army list:
“it can be carried onto the battlefield by two friendly models, a single model with the burly special rule or a single monster”
The King's Seat counts as a banner with a 3" range, and counts as a banner for the purposes of VPs in scenarios where this is relevant.
Models may freely move through the seat but may not finish their move on the objective. It does not block line of sight (no matter how tall you model it).
The seat is classified as a heavy object and can be moved. Heroes that also have the Monster key word may not carry the seat (after all, it is likely to be their seat)
You are able to destroy your opponents seat, we will be using the rules for disabling a siege engine as presented on page 143 for the core rules. It does not have a toughness or wounds value so cannot be destroyed in any other manner.
Grima Wormtongue cannot destroy the Seat of the King.
Best Single Miniature #
At the Hampshire Hammerers we believe that a GBHL100 should represent the best of the Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game, both for gaming and hobby. As such we are aiming to have our best painted miniature competition this year fit under the new Premium Hobby Banner.
How does this work for you?
The best single miniature event will be on Sunday. We will have a dedicated space from the start of the day (with good lighting) for you to display your chosen mini. The display will be open from registration on the Sunday till sometime during the last game.
This event will not be publicly voted and will be judged by the TO’s and at least one external Judge (tbc)
We don’t want to limit people if the model you want to use is in your army so youill be able to enter models that you are using on the day if you wish during the lunch break. These will then be marked in some fashion so that the judges can make sure that they get looked at and photographed in the lunch break.
We will be awarding a 1 , 2 and 3 place for this category
So do you have a Golden Demon winning piece hiding at home, or just a model you are super proud and want to show off? In which case pack it with you and enter it into the best single miniature
Sherlocks Workshop #
As with previous years, a number of our prizes will be supplied by our friend over at Sherlocks Workshop. Zac will also have a table of wares for you to look over during the event (which will be available for purchase).
If there is anything specific you would like made or are considering a pre-order than reach out to him at sherlocksworkshop@gmail.com or reach out to him on Facebook (Sherlocks Workshop) and use the event as the chance to pick it up and save on shipping cost.
Example Army list #
Below is an example army list, so that players have an idea of how we would like to see army lists presented. Doing it this way makes it much easier for us to find potential issues with lists during the checking lists stage in the week running up to the event (trust us, going through 60 odd lists takes a while!).
